Scotty and Star don't agree on too many things.
One thing they do agree on: the scale is to blame for their recent weight gain. At Sunday's Weigh-In they were both up in weight. Scotty wanted to take a closer look, but I assured him he did gain a pound.
Star gained a half pound, but after a pondering moment...
She thought better to blame the steroid she's been on rather than the scale. Casey remained the same. What did he think of the scale?
He wasn't interested in weighing in on the matter.

A Bad Mystery
I've been recently posting about Star not feeling well. The good news is her cough has been absent for a while and we are in the process of weaning her off the steroid medicine. This week she was on 1/2 pill every other day and tomorrow she'll start on 1/4 pill every other day. As long as she continue with no cough, she should be off the medicine in a week.
Now for the bad news. On Tuesday night Star became sick to her stomach. The first theory was the vomiting was caused by a rawhide she chewed earlier that night. But when she threw up again Wednesday afternoon, it started to look less likely. And after she threw up again in the early morning hours, I made sure to be at the vet this morning. She wasn't running a fever and the doctor wasn't seeing any obvious reason behind what is causing her to be so sick. She took an x-ray and ruled out a blockage.
She gave Star a shot that will hopefully help her from getting sick again. Now we have to wait and see what happens in the next 24 hours. As long as the mysterious culprit behind her vomiting doesn't cause it again, we'll be okay. But if she does get sick, we'll be back at the vet for a blood work up.

Lucky To Get A Pic
Yesterday I tried to get the dogs excited about St. Patty's day, but they weren't feeling the love for the Irish.
Casey, after seeing Mommys can look just as sad as puppys who don't get what they want, decided to give me a few good poses.
But his sympathy was gone by the third pic.
Scotty, not wanting to be outdone by his brother, decided to pose.
Star finally came around and decided to pose, but thought it would be cute to look like she drank too much green beer!

A Day Worth Walking
Yay! Yesterday we finally we got some 60 degree weather!
I took Scotty on a walk first.
While we were out having a nice time...
... I got reports Casey was at home howling in misery from being left behind! I wonder if Scotty heard him?
I took Star next and she was happy to take a break from walking to sit and enjoy the beautiful day.
And while we were enjoying our time out together...
... I got reports Casey was much better this time. I believe he was smart enough to figure out he was going next. Star was in no hurry to get home to give him is turn.
FINALLY! It was Casey's turn and he was ready to go!

He was happy to stop for a couple quick pics...
But what he really wanted was to get back on the road. Wednesday, March 16, 2011

A Cha-Cha Recovery
Casey's recovery took a step in the wrong direction on Friday and he was put back on his medication. His cough hasn't come back too bad, so he doesn't have to be on the steroid Star is currently taking. I had to wonder whether he was just sick of Star getting all the attention.
He was less than thrilled with my accusation and put on his best "feel sorry for me" expression.
Scotty also had to start back up on the medicine as his cough came back too. But he understands how these things happen.
He knows recovery can feel like the cha-cha (slow, slow, quick, quick, slow).

What The Dogs Ordered
Yesterday morning we woke up to snow.
As I've explained before, my dogs love the snow. So you could imagine the joy they felt yesterday. Scotty was so mesmerized by it, he couldn't take a moment to look at the camera for a quick pic.
Casey was happy to pose once inside.
Star wasn't as thrilled with my plan to photograph. She loves the snow, but was ready for me to wipe it off already!
I'm happy to report we are still on the mend. After being sick, I think this fun adventure was just what the dogs ordered!

Mental Health Day
Star suffered from a severe case of the grumpies this morning.
I blame it on the steroids in her medication, because it is easy for me to go there. Not that she is 100% sugar and spice when off the steroid. Although she doesn't necessarily have the mood swings she displaced this morning. Nor does she just go off and show her teeth at the boys for no reason.
Thankfully Casey, who has been her BFF since he was a pup, is understand and forgives her easily.
Good news - I was are able to drop Star down to one pill a day starting today. On Friday her regiment required her to have one pill twice a day until her cough subsided. And since she was cough free most of the weekend and all day Monday, I decided that qualified as a subsiding. So fingers crossed that she is on the mend too!

Same Old Weight
This week's weigh-in showed zero change, which is okay. All three of the dogs have been sick so I was just happy they didn't gain weight. Star has been sick the longest. The boys have mostly recovered from whatever it was that caused them to cough, but Star is still fighting it.
She started a new medicine on Friday so I'm hoping this one will get her healthy. The draw back is it has a steroid in it. And since she has been prone to weight gain whenever she's been on a steroid, our next weigh in results might not be positive.
