Excitement In The Forecast

Snow = Excitement, at least from the viewpoint of my shelties. And with 1-3 inches in the forecast for tonight, I know they will be very happy tomorrow morning. And while I don't share their joy in getting snow, I do experience joy from watching them enjoy it.

Here are some pics from the blizzard we had earlier this month:

Caught In The Act

After reading a funny post on CowSpotDog about Bree's experience with getting different dog beds for Reilly, I started reminiscing about my own experience with introducing a couple new dog beds into our pack. Casey instantly fell in love.

Scotty and Star were a different story. Neither wanted to lay a paw on it. Scotty not liking the new bed really surprised me. He used to sleep on the old dog bed quite often. So I started feeling guilty about throwing out the old one, but it was so worn. I had even mended it to make it last as long as I could.

But then we discovered he was sneaking onto the bed and sleeping while I was busy doing something else. We caught him in the act!

(Sorry the pic isn’t too good, we only had a cell phone handy at the time)

Since the jig was up, Scotty saw no use in hiding his love for the new bed and has since been openly sleeping on it.

Star still prefers one of the older, less poofy dog bed.

But I feel like she's warming up to the new ones because, occasionally, she'll lay near it or use a side as a pillow.

The Places They Sleep

Casey has many favorite places to sleep. And crammed between the tub and the toliet is one of them. He started doing it when he was a pup because I would gate him in the bathroom while I was gone. But even when he got old enough to have free roam of the house, he still returned to what he considered a safe place to sleep.

Cat Food Kibble Here, Half Pound There

We had our weigh-in today. The results weren't what I hoped, but I haven't done much to yield better ones. Scotty and Star both stayed the same, which is better than gaining. But Casey gained a half pound.

Casey's gain shouldn't come as a surprise, after all, he is the master of sneaking extra food. Although there hasn't been any instances in the past three weeks of him getting extra treats. So I've had to examine other reasons why he gained while the other two remained the same.

I came up with something that may have contributed to his weight gain. We have an older cat and while he eats he drops kibbles of dry food out of his mouth. Some of them roll off the table he eats on and onto the floor. And guess who is quick to pick up those pieces? Casey!

As soon as Casey hears the cat eating, he instantly perks up and waits. Now it isn't like a whole lot of food falls off the table for him to eat, but I don't think the ones that do are helping my cause.
